Spring is a season of change and opportunity where snow is thawing, birds migrate, and flowers are blooming. It is about time to forget negative thoughts, unhealthy habits that may have been a burden to both the mind and body. Now that Spring season has rolled in, let’s start with a clean slate, mentally, physically and emotionally.

Here are 7 habits recommended doing this spring:

Be Still and Meditate

Give yourself a break from time to time to keep stress levels at bay. Take 5-10 deep breaths, exhaling for longer than you inhale while focusing on your breath.

Up your Daily Dose of H2O

Sounds really easy, but most people tend to miss it. Water is truly the elixir of life. Always jumpstart your day with hydration and your body will thank you!

Spring Clean the Habits

It is about time to spring clean the habits you’ve picked up along the way. Ask yourself: What’s my worst habit? Then commit to at least one tangible and measurable change that will benefit your wellbeing. Yes, change can be daunting, it is worthy!

Journal

Start journaling your way into happiness by doing a gratitude journal. Fill your journal with lists like best part of my day, people I’m grateful for, challenges I overcame etc. By doing this, you learn to look for positive aspects to any situation no matter how grave the outlook.

Nourish your body

Rule of thumb is to live by the 80/20 rule. This means eating healthfully 80 percent of the time, and the other 20 percent (in moderation) for cravings. This rule frees the mind from the idea of strict diet and perfection.

Disconnect to Reconnect

Unplug from the digital world for the meantime and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Set aside a time to be in an adventure, whether it’s a walk in the woods, a run, skiing, or hiking. Always remember that nature is nurture.

Sleep better, feel better

Allow a screen-free sacred space around your sleep. To start this, decide what time you’re going to bed and set a timer on your phone for one hour before bedtime. Once that timer goes off, set your phone on airplane mode, turn off computer and TV. Also, no screen usage for one hour after waking too.

Spring is a season of change, a season to celebrate, and a season to be outside. Give yourself a time to reset and reflect – enjoy the changes!
