Thanks to a system error during the reservation process with their sister resort, we were upgraded to this huge beautiful resort that I have always wanted to stay in. Stayed here for a total of 3 nights in their 2 bedroom private retreat pool villas. Their retreat villas are more modern than their reaidences. But having walked past their residences, they looked more local and unique but less private.
On arrival, we were greeted warmly and brought on a tour of the grounds of the estate and then to the villa for a in-villa check-in. Our personal assistant was already there waiting to check us in and with our welcome drink. He helped to ensure that all the activities we booked are arranged. He was also helpful to answer all our queries. And greet us at our breakfast and remind us of our schedules.
Really loved the huge infinity pool of the villa with jacuzzi jets and overlooking some rice terraces. Also loved the outdoor showers with the forest views.
The steam room in the villa was good for relaxation. However, the steam room couldn't be switched off after we used it and we and to get their maintence guy to come fix it. This is only the start of the many other breakdowns to come in our villa. Next the bathtub couldn't be drained. Then the front door lock couldn't work and had to be repaired twice. Lastly, the phone didn't work from the last night of our stay and our morning all was missed. However, they apparently came to knock on our doors but we didn't hear it. So I think the villa is in need of maintenance.
We had a massage at the Como Shambhala spa. The spa receptor was very friendly and helpful and tried to fulfill our requests for time and masseurs. The massage was good and relaxing. Well done!
Another activity worth joining is their Yoga class. We had the flow yoga class and the instructor was fantastic! She tried to cater to all the different guests' levels of proficiency. It's held in the Yoga Bale which overlooks the valley. The experience is sublime! Try it! One of the best part of the resort I like must be the natural spring water pools by the river. It's really scenic and quiet and refreshing to take a dip there. But be warned, u need to climb 200 steps down and then another 200 up again on the narrow steps. It's certainly worth it though. Another point to note is that you can have the choice of in-room breakfast without any extra charges.
All in all, I would recommend this lovely resort to anyone looking for a place to unwind and get away from it all in private.
