Thank you for being part of the Health and Fitness Travel, Strong, Healthy Women Interview Series, where we are shining a light on the importance of self-care, not as an indulgence but a necessity to reduce stress and general health issues.
Is there such a thing as a typical day for you and what does that look like?
Not really, but there absolutely is such a thing as a typical morning. My morning routine is the most structured part of my day. First thing I do when waking up is my gratitude journal. Then I will have a big glass of warm lemon water (warm water is softer on your digestive system first thing in the morning). Then I will get in 20 minutes of movement, even if it’s just a walk or a stretch. I take my daily essential vitamins, right now that is Whole Earth and Sea Women’s Multi (highly recommend!). Then I make my morning collagen latte with organic cinnamon for antioxidants and organic ginger to fight inflammation. Then, it’s time to work! My morning routine is filled with things that I know are going to set me up for not only a healthier and happier day but also a healthier and happier tomorrow. I truly believe a strong morning routine creates momentum for a day of success.
Can you share a time when you felt your well-being was challenged in the past and what did you overcome it?
In late 2018 I experienced total burnout which leads to a rough 9 months of recovering from adrenal fatigue. At that time I was an owner-operator of a wholefoods restaurant here in Sydney, ROSIES. Although ROSIES helped to improve the health and well-being of my diners, unfortunately, it was not doing the same for me. Countless hours and endless stress slowly but surely wore me down. At the same time, I also lost both of my beautiful grandmothers. It was a lot!
Turning things around was anything but easy. I had to deeply consider if this line of work was going to be conducive to the long and happy life I’ve always wanted. We decided to sell.
Over the next 6 months I had to prioritize my health. I put myself on my Good Gut Guide and also began the long process of healing my hormones. Slowly but surely, day by day things got better.
It can often feel overwhelming when setting health goals. But if you focus on the minutes and the days, the months and years take care of themselves. It’s all about the baby steps!
What does being healthy mean to you and how do you keep this at the forefront when life gets unavoidably busy?
To me, healthy means doing what you can, where you can to set yourself up for a better tomorrow. Creating helpful routines, habits and dialogue with yourself to continually nudge you in the right direction. But also to know that sometimes life does get in the way, and that is completely okay. Health is a journey and not a destination. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Have you ever taken a holiday specifically for your well-being? Can you share what the experience was like?
There are few tools more powerful for growth and transformation than investing time into yourself and your wellness. I truly believe that it incredibly important to remove yourself from your day-to-day every now and then to give yourself the chance to reset, relax, retreat and reconnect to yourself.
I am currently working as a Wellness Retreat Manager where we host all kinds of wellness retreats. Yoga, Pilates, meditation, nutrition, even sleep retreats! Every now and then I will sign up for one myself and I cannot explain how healing it can be to fully immerse yourself into an experience of nourishment, support and holistic wellness. Each time I come out feeling like a brand new version of myself.
Every woman’s idea of self-care is different, tell us about yours?
I believe that self-care is about tuning into yourself to discover what exactly it is that sets your soul on fire, then including that in your life. For me it is the ocean, animals, a hot cup of coffee, my loved ones and living a life filled with learning, positivity and all things nature. Knowing this I make sure to always prioritise sunset walks by the ocean, playing with my dogs, spending quality time with my loved ones outside and I treat myself with food, products that align with my message.
